Club News: Latest Updates

13th October 2004:
A long time since the last update...but....in the meantime.....congratulations to Gavin McDermott on his Clubman of the Year and Sean Garvey on his Player of the Year award, both well deserved. The team this year is under the leadership of Ronan McDermott and Mick Crinigan and they are off to a flyer. After 7 games Harps sit top of the 1st division and the goals are flying in - an average of 3 per game which is great news. A strong squad is in place with competition for places hopefully promotion, perhaps the title! can be added to last year's cup success.......

30th May 2004:
Yes......Yes.....Yes.... What a game....What a result...... Lough Harps win their first ever Cup - The Divisional Cup against Roscommon Town on a 3-2 extra time victory. Every man out there was fantastic they gave everything for 110 dramatic minutes of football and it was all worth it to finally taste victory. All the lads were heroes but we wont forget Gerry Cunningham's penalty or miracle save and certainly not Sean Garvey's brace of goals especially that winner....that peach of a winner. Lets hope there's more to come...............

16th May 2004:
This turned out to be a big day. In the morning Sean Garvey's goal against Cloonfad sent Harps into their first cup final for many years - lets hope they bring home the cup. That afternoon the Club's AGM produced a new committee for the coming year (see Club Officers page). The opportunity to commend Michael Daly on 20 odd years of unbroken service on the Harps officers table can't be passed - Well Done & Thanks although we know he will still be involved in many ways.

11th April 2004:
Harps finished an enjoyable season with a creditable 4th place finish in Division 1. Having lost only 5 league games this season Harps proved again they are a hard team to beat. With two cup quarter finals still to come there is good reason to believe we can still put some overdue silverware in the cabinet this season. Well done to all the lads who have stayed committed to the cause all through the season.

25th March 2004:
Thanks to everyone involved who made our recent race night such a great success. A good crowd showed up on the night all enjoyed the craic. Special thanks to our generous sponsors The White House Hotel, Gerry Coffey Auctioneers, Kirrane Brothers Seamless Gutters, John Roache Polredmond Construction, Padraic Campbell Campbells Bar, Graham Morgan - Morgans Scaffolding, Eddie Murphy Menswear, Karl Briem Stanley Farm Buildings,  Forde Brothers Alu & uPVC windows and doors.

25th February 2004:
At the recent 3rd meeting of the season it was agreed the club will hold a Race Night Fundraiser on Saturday 20th March in Campbells Lounge, Ballinlough. Race Cards are out there so please support us and buy a horse, the proceeds will primarily go to youth soccer within the club which has proved very popular and successful over the last year or so.

Also GOOD LUCK to our U-18 lads in their cup semi-final this coming Saturday at 2pm in Lecarrow against Monksland United.

23rd December 2003
The Lough Harps committee wish everyone connected with the club a very Happy Christmas and Best Wishes for 2004. Thanks to everyone who has made 2003 a successful one in particular all who celebrated our 30th anniversary this year.

19th October 2003:
Almost halfway through the season and mixed fortunes for the seniors so far. In the league 3 wins 3 draws and 2 defeats leave Harps in fourth. A good determined push over the winter months can still see the team challenge for promotion. The team will train on Thursdays indoor and on Saturday evenings outdoor to keep the squad in tune.

17th August 2003:
The senior team started the new season with a good 2 - 0 win over Cam Celtic. You can see results, tables and squad details by clicking on the links on the navigation bar.

20th July 2003:
Both the U-12 team and the U-18 team kicked off their season this week. Good luck to Ronan McDermott and his young team. Also best wishes to our first U18 team for many years. They will be managed by Michael Crinigan and Martin McDermott. Check out the NEW youths page for up to date results.

13th July 2003:
The U10 team continue their campaign and have had a great season so far with lots of victories. All the boys and girls have been involved in many games and seem to be really enjoying it. Next week they take part in a major blitz competition at Shiven Rovers in Newbridge, good luck to them in that one and for the rest of the season.

1st June 2003:
The end of season also culminated with the award of the Golden Boot to Stuart Daly who had a fantastic strike rate and great performances all season. The Players Player of the Year went to Kevin McLoughlin for his outstanding performances all year. Congratulations to both players.

1st June 2003:
The end of the juniors season was marked with a friendly game against a Brazilian side who travelled from Gort for the game. A beautiful day was matched by a fun and sporting encounter. Harps won narrowly 6-5 on the day. Both sides received trophies and Harps express sincere thanks to a great bunch of lads "the boys from Brazil", we hope to see them again soon.
